To upgrade the Oak of Ages alone to lv5, you need to hold 5+10+45+75 = 135 Amber.

Level 3: 10 (fine, I can do that.though I should be an isolationist, this being a TW game some expansion is expected and this is fair).

Level 2: 5 (It's okay I guess, seems fair).

As a result, here is what you need to upgrade it. I expect at least the same from Warhammer 2 when I play the Woodelves, but alas, it is not to be: the numbers are INCREDIBLY FUCKED UP.īecause the map grew bigger with Mortal Empires compared to Warhammer 1's Old World, somebody at the dev team thought it would be a good idea to raise the requirements of upgrading the Oak of Ages accordingly.

I did accept it in Warhammer 1, I could play countless campaigns with it, win them, enjoy them. I'll not speak more of how Amber is "bad design" and "not in line with the civilization's profile", let's make a statement: I accept for what it is. This thread isn't another in a dozens that complains about that, though I highly support those threads and want to underline just how big an issue that is with another one: Mortal Empires. Instead you are forced to go out and raze everything to gain Amber, which you need to upgrade your only settlement. It's been a very long ongoing complaint against the Woodelves gameplay design that they are a very isolationist, centralist civilization who if gameplay design would honor the lore profile of the asrai race, would encourage this kind of gameplay style on the campaign. Now, every major thing the woodelves do, has an Amber Upkeep: researching new technologies, upgrading your main building in capitals, and upgrading the Oak of Ages, which you need to upgrade to it's fullest as a campaign goal, and will immediately lose your entire campaign if any race razes it (and since it cannot be caputred by other races, anyone will raze it). Amber is everywhere, and you get exactly 1 for every owned minor settlement, and 2 for every big settlement (or capital if you prefer) you hold. This isn't a resource like Iron or Gold that you can trade and gather from specific locations in the world. Woodelves use a resource unique to them, called Amber.
